THE fundraising efforts of three Belrose Public School pupils will give you paws for thought.

Friends Jamie Quiggin, 11, Tom Reid, 12, and Sienna Sutton, 11, are joining the RSPCA’s Million Paws Walk on Sunday to help fight animal cruelty.

The team, named Bunny.co, will walk 4km from the starting line at Sydney Olympic Park.

The animal loving trio and their families have all taken in rescue animals including Sienna’s cats Piper and Coco, Tom’s dog Jessie and Jamie’s rabbit M & M and cat Kosci.

Kosci was found dumped in the middle of the national park at four weeks of age.

“When I found out how badly some people were treating animals and how cruel they were to them, I wanted to find a way to help. So I looked on the internet and I found the Million Paws Walk and decided to give it a go,” said Jamie.

“It’s been so much fun doing it with my friends. I don’t think I could have raised as much or been as confident without them. I hope we’ll do it together next year,” Jamie said.

Sienna said she was doing the walk because her family have always had rescue animals as pets.

“My family have decided that two cats is enough for now so this is my way of helping some more animals to find happy forever homes,” she said.

Bunny.co has already raised $1942.85 for their fundraising page, rating them the second highest fundraising team in NSW.

“It’s amazing. I’m really hoping we can break $2000,” Tom said.

Mrs Quiggin said she was proud of all the kids’ efforts.

“They’ve worked so hard to spread the word and come up with ideas to raise money. They truly believe in this cause and they’ve approached everything with enormous enthusiasm.”
