Patrons who were at a popular Manly venue on July 24 are being asked to monitor for symptoms of coronavirus after a COVID-19 case attended the restaurant on that day.

NSW Health sent out an alert overnight advising “all people who visited the Bavarian Restaurant Manly on Friday 24 July from 2.30pm-4pm to monitor for COVID-19 symptoms”.

The restaurant was shut on Saturday morning for a “deep clean”.

A spokeswoman for the Rockpool Group which owns the Bavarian chain, said it was advised by NSW Health that an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 dined at The Bavarian Manly on July 24.

“NSW Health has advised that the venue is low risk,” she said.

However, the spokeswoman said individuals who were in the restaurant should watch for COVID-19 symptoms and if they occur self-isolate for 14 days and get tested immediately.

“We have followed all advice of NSW Health regarding the safety of staff and guests, including providing them with contact details of individuals who were in the venue so that they can contact them in accordance with NSW Government’s contact tracing requirements,” she said.

“We have been given the all-clear to continue to operate.

“However, as an additional precaution the venue is undergoing a professional COVID deep clean this morning and will reopen for lunch at midday today.

“The Bavarian continues to operate with strict safe dining and stringent hygiene measures in place.”

A spokesman for Northern Sydney Local Health District also released a statement regarding

“a person who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 who attended Bavarian Restaurant in Manly while infectious”.

“NSW Health has assessed the risk and deemed that apart from the person’s fellow diners who are close contacts, patrons there between these times are considered casual contacts and should monitor for COVID-19 symptoms,” the spokesman said.

It is not known whether the alert relates to a new case in the 2096 Queenscliff, Freshwater and Curl Curl postcode, which was confirmed on Thursday.

The new case is the first community transmission of the virus on the peninsula since April 27.

It is linked to the Potts Point cluster.

A number of new clusters have emerged across Sydney.

Testing clinics are open at Brookvale Community Health Centre, Northern Beaches Hospital and Mona Vale Hospital.

A spokeswoman from Northern Beaches Hospital said it was testing around 300 people a day.
