Two little girls have fallen into Saturday night front yard fires in the same street on the northern beaches — just four months apart.

A little girl suffered terrible burns after falling into a blazing fire pit set up in a northern beaches front yard.

The girl, 3, was flown to hospital with burns to 18 per cent of her body after stumbling into the flames at the house at Avalon Beach early on Saturday evening.

This incident occurred in the same street — Riviera Ave — where a five-year-old girl was badly burned after tripping into a bonfire while toasting marshmallows just four months ago.

And the latest incident comes just three months after a man tripped and fell into a large bonfire at a Terrey Hills party while trying to warm his hands.

On Saturday night NSW Ambulance received a triple zero call at about 5.15pm that a child had been burned at a home in Riviera Ave.

Northern Beaches Police said the girl was playing with other children in the front yard when a neighbour walking past said “hello”.

“The girl has turned towards the neighbour, but stumbled and fell into a fire pit,” a police spokesman said.

“The patient received burns to 18 per cent of her body.”

Four ambulance crews rushed to the house along with the CareFlight rapid response emergency helicopter with a specialist doctor on-board.

The CareFlight medical team worked with ambulance paramedics to treat the girl’s non-life threatening burns before she was flown to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a stable condition.

Back on May 23, a Saturday night, a girl, 5, fell into a bonfire while toasting marshmallows and had to be flown to hospital by the NSW Ambulance helicopter for treatment to extensive burns.

The girl toppled into the fire built on the front lawn of a home in Riviera Ave, Avalon.

She suffered burns to her lower back, buttocks and elbow after falling backwards into the flames. Witnesses told police that her father grabbed her out of the fire and immediately tore off her burning clothes before she was sprayed with a garden hose.

On June 20, a man suffered serious burns to 50 per cent of his body after falling into a large bonfire at a party on the northern beaches.

The man, 58, from Hornsby was at a property on McCarrs Creek Rd at Terrey Hills when he fell face first into the flames.

Two other people received burns to their hands when they dragged the man from the bonfire. He was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.

On its website Fire and Rescue NSW warns that adults must ensure children are always kept at a safe distance from open fires and supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
