A man secretly filmed women getting undressed, having showers — even going to the toilet — Manly Local Court has heard.

Andrew Peter Kelly, 63, hid small digital cameras in a pot plant, a candle holder and a towel drawer in the bathroom of his Balgowlah home.

Kelly, a freelance IT consultant who has a hobby making drone videos, filmed the two women without their permission.

He had previously been treated for an addiction to porn, the court heard on Friday.

It also heard that Kelly recorded the intimate images of the women for his “own sexual gratification” and with complete “disregard for the privacy and dignity of the victims”.

Police described the offences as “indicative of near predatory behaviour”.

One of the women discovered a GoPro brand camera pointed towards her from a towel drawer in a vanity unit opposite her as she sat on the toilet.

When she and the other women searched the bathroom, they found a second GoPro camera in a small candle holder on top of the toilet cistern.

According to a police facts sheet tendered to court, the women confronted Kelly who told them he would ask a male housemate, a young male, if they were his cameras.

The women reported the cameras to police.

A week later police, armed with a search warrant, raided Kelly’s home and seized numerous electronic digital storage devices including an Apple Mini Mac with a 128Gb storage card.

The card contained numerous digital folders including one titled @BEST and another using one of the victim’s names.

One video showed one of the women entering the bathroom in her swimsuit, disrobing and using the toilet.

Another 10 digital video files showed the victims in “various states of undress” and using the sower and toilet, the facts sheet stated.

“The files depict Kelly on camera installing the devices in the bathroom before hastily leaving the room some seconds before the victims use the facility,” the facts sheets stated.

The file titled @BEST contained stills shots of the victims, taken from the videos.

Kelly has pleaded guilty to 11 counts of intentionally record intimate image without consent.

He also pleased guilty to two firearms charges. Police found an unlicensed Bayer 12-gauge shotgun wrapped in a plastic bag in his bedroom.

Kelly was scheduled to be sentenced on Friday by Magistrate Robyn Denes.

But the sentencing was adjourned until April 13 after Kelly’s solicitor said he wanted to tender a final psychiatric report to the court before Kelly was sentenced.
