A Sydney teenager has been charged with holding up a northern beaches’ bottle shop while armed with a knife.

A TEENAGER has been charged with holding up a northern beaches’ bottle shop while armed with a knife.
Police allege the 17-year-old male stole cash from the Liquorland outlet in Narraweena on Sunday night.
Northern Beaches’ Crime Manager Craig Wonders said police were called to the shop, on the corner of McIntosh Rd and Alfred St, soon after 6pm.
“It is alleged the youth went into the bottleshop and waited until customers left and he was alone with one staff member,” Inspector Wonders said.
“The youth produced a knife or a box cutter and approached the staff member, who was working behind the counter, and demanded money.
“An amount of cash was handed over and the youth left the shop.”
Northern beaches detectives were able to identity the offender on security camera footage, and than making local inquiries.
Inspector Wonders said the officers went to an address in Clontarf were they saw the alleged robber leaving a home.
“The young male saw police and tried to run off. He was allegedly wearing the same clothing that was seen on the CCTV footage.
“He was soon caught and taken back to Manly Police Station.”
The teenager was charged with robbery while armed with an offensive weapon; resisting police in the execution of their duty and’ breaching bail conditions.
He was refused bail to appear in the Surry Hills Children’s Court on Monday.
