Wingecarribee Council has been forced to close its Civic Centre in Moss Vale for deep cleaning after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

In a statement, the council confirmed it was working with NSW Health to help identify any other possible staff or contractors who may have been exposed to the virus.

“Full services are anticipated to resume (at the Civic Centre) on Monday, November 9, following advice and confirmation from NSW Health,” a council spokesperson said.

“Management will monitor the situation over the weekend and will issue further communications next week.”

The closure of the Civic Centre comes hot on the heels of news that Moss Vale Public School would also be closed on Friday for deep cleaning.

The school said it is working closely with the health department and would update staff and students later on Friday.

Parents of students were not asked to self-isolate.

The Southern Highlands Early Childhood Centre has also closed for cleaning.

Anyone who lives in the Moss Vale area should monitor for symptoms and get tested if they are feeling unwell.

A new walk-in clinic is open today until 5pm, and will open over the weekend from 9am to 5pm.

The Daily Telegraph understands four positive cases from the area are from the same family.
