FOUR Wests Tigers players showed their support for Harrington Park boxing champion Daniel Geale, ahead of his January 30 bout against Anthony Mundine.
Players Keith Galloway, Ben Murdoch-Masila, Matt Groat and Shaun Spence took a break from their pre-season training to sit in on Geale's sparring session with former IBO inter-continental light middleweight champion Rob Medley, at the Grange Old School Boxing gym.
A staunch Wests Tigers supporter, Geale appreciated the Tigers players' visit.
"Preparation for a big fight is intense, so it's nice to relax my mind for an hour and have some fun with the boys," he said.
Geale said he had learned valuable lessons from his visits to the Tigers' change rooms.
"I always go into the sheds after a Tigers game and it's inspiring to see these athletes jump into an ice bath every week.
"Boxing for 12 rounds is very tough but I only have a few fights a year. The boys get hammered every week and it inspires me to keep going."
Forward Matt Groat said Geale was an inspiration and he couldn't wait to watch the fight in two weeks.
"He's a winner and has a great attitude. A few of the boys and I are going to watch the fight and cheer him on," he said.
