WESTERN Sydney Wanderers' A-League clash with Newcastle Jets FC at Campbelltown Stadium has Macarthur region soccer fans counting down the days until Saturday.
Third-placed Wanderers are sure to delight fans with their incredible form when they take on fifth-placed Newcastle in round 20 of the A-League season.
The match could be crucial in the Wanderers' path to the finals, as a third-placed finish in the regular season would secure a home elimination final and second would book an automatic semi-finals berth.
Macarthur District Soccer Football Association general manager Glenn Armstrong said the clash was great for the region's highest-participation sport.
"It's great for the sport as we've got over 9000 registered players in the Macarthur region, and bringing professional games out here increases interest in the game," he said.
Armstrong said the association was told an A-League regional game would be an annual fixture at Campbelltown Stadium.
"We worked incredibly hard, in conjunction with Campbelltown Council, to secure the game and we were told it was going to be every year, whether it be a Sydney FC or Wanderers fixture," he said.
Campbelltown Mayor Sue Dobson said she was glad residents could watch sport in Campbelltown.
"It's great to have a quality game of soccer played in our own backyard," she said.
