A high-profile Oxford St drag queen faces a nervy wait to see what fate a Sydney magistrate hands down as their break-and-enter conviction was set to be re-sentenced after multiple community corrections order breaches.

At Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday, Wendell French, more commonly known by their entertainer name ‘Felicia Foxx’, a mainstay of Sydney’s drag scene, pleaded guilty to breaching an apprehended violence order, failing to appear for a bail undertaking, and two counts of driving while disqualified.

The guilty pleas mean French, of Airds, will be sweating on the potential re-sentence of their 2020 conviction for breaking and entering, where they were sentenced to a two-year CCO, in March 2021.

French, or Foxx, is a prominent face among the parties and bars of Oxford St.

During the week, French used to work as a presenter on Koori Radio, run by the Gadigal Information Services, and now works as a stylist, court documents said.

At night, French’s persona Foxx is a popular entertainer at parties and LGBTQ bars across Sydney’s CBD and Inner West.

French was convicted at Campbelltown Local Court in March 2021 for breaking-and-entering after the drag queen had broken into the manager’s office at her then place of work, Koori Radio, and stole $150 from two locked cash tins.

French appeared in person at court on Thursday, which heard how a sentencing of their matters couldn’t take place due to a lack of community corrections staff on site, who needed to undertake a sentencing assessment report, to ascertain French’s suitability for community service.

Deputy chief magistrate Theo Tsavdaridis adjourned the matter for a week and said he would “at the very least need a sentencing report”, particularly for the breach of French’s CCO.

The recent quartet of charges, which French has pleaded guilty to, revolved around breaching the domestic AVO taking out to protect his mother.

On January 28 2022, court documents showed, French’s mother – the protected person – came home to her St Helens Park property to hear snoring from the spare room and her son’s VW Polo in the driveway.

After a verbal altercation between the two, French drove off, although the police were notified of the breach and, two days later, also charged them with driving while disqualified.

French’s licence, court documents said, is disqualified until August 2025.

The second driving offence took place in October 2022 and the failure to appear for a bail undertaking in March of this year.

French will return to court next week for an assessment report and to be sentenced.
