A man who allegedly broke into two southwest Sydney businesses in less than half an hour and stole $13,00 cash has fronted court.
Troy Laycock appeared at Picton Local Court on Wednesday after he was charged with two counts of breaking and entering and driver failing to disclose identity of passenger.
Police allege that Laycock broke into XS Espresso Cafe at Holborn Circuit, Gregory Hills about 3am on February 10 and stole $12,000 and a safe.
They further allege he broke into OMC Burgers and Bar on Rodeo Rd, just a short time later and stole $1000 and an iPad.
Court documents show that Laycock has struggled with methamphetamine use.
In court, Laycock asked for an adjournment as he was engaging in the Magistrates Early Referral into Treatment (MERIT) program.
The course is a voluntary, pre-plea program for adults in the Local Court who have issues related to their alcohol and other drug use.
Magistrate Mark Douglass asked Laycock how it was going, and he responded he had a second appointment later in the week.
The matter was adjourned to June 8. No pleas have been entered in the matter and Laycock remains on bail.
