Mr Lyddieth’s cousin Brandan Peagam made an emotional post on facebook saying “the hardest part in life is watching not only your cousin but your best friend leave you for a better life.

“But I know you’re doing well up there. I love you every single day,” he wrote.

Another friend remembered Blayd’s infectious laughter, saying “may he make the angels laugh the way he made us laugh”.

Others remembered his as a keen musician, for always making them laugh, his positive spirit and the music he made.

Police were called to the swimming spot in south of Sydney at around 1.40pm on Thursday, after receiving reports the teenager had jumped off the rocks, but didn’t resurface.

The boy’s body was found by police drivers four hours later.

A massive search was launched with officers attached to Camden Police Area Command attending, along with Police Divers, NSW Ambulance paramedics and Fire and Rescue NSW.

Thalia Kelly wrote “Rest in Peace Blayd Lyddieth. It was only a few days ago that I was on the phone with you and making plans to finally catch up once everything opens up. I’m mourning and celebrating the time we had together.”

“Rest easy, I know you’ll watch over until we meet again,” Georgia Cullen-Hughes said.

Others remembered Blayd for his musical talents. The aspiring artist had recently posted on facebook that he’d started a new job as a recording artist.

Wollondilly’s mayor Robert Khan has passed on his condolences to the family but says Mermaids Pool is not a safe place to swim.

“Council is saddened by this tragedy and our thoughts go out to the family of this young man at this time,” Mayor Khan said.
