BRADBURY’s Tommy “the Titan” Browne, after 18 years of ducking and weaving punches as a professional boxer, will fight for the title of being Australia’s first Ninja Warrior.
The father-of-two and current IBO Asia Pacific and UBO International super welterweight titleholder will take on the infamous Ninja Warrior course this Sunday night, competing against the country’s fittest and fastest athletes.
The 35-year-old, currently preparing for his final fight on Australian soil, said he couldn’t wait to take on the challenge.
“I was like most of Australia and watched the first series, sitting at home with the family and thinking how cool it would be to go on it,” he said.
“I thought I would be a good enough athlete to get through some of the stages and give the course a bit of a run.
“I would see people drop off and I think to myself that I could go further
“I didn’t want to be one of those people saying should’ve, would’ve, could’ve.”
Browne said his five-year-old daughter Maddy is one of the biggest Ninja Warrior fans in the country.
“My daughter loves the show,” he said. “She was more excited than me. We would always sit on the couch together and watch it.”
PUTTING THE CHALLENGE OUT TO ‘THE MAN’
Browne isn’t the sole high profile Ninja taking on the course in season 2, with fellow competitors including former NSW Blues captain Paul Gallen, Red Wiggle Simon Pryce, party boy Corey Worthington and The Bachelor’s Tim Robards.
Browne will be competing for the chance to be Australia’s first Ninja Warrior, with nobody taking that title in Season 1, this year the prize money jackpots to $200,000.
THE FINAL ‘AUSTRALIAN’ CHAPTER:
More than 7700 people applied to take on the course, with Browne one of 300 Ninjas to make it to the final stages.
Browne’s Ninja Warrior attempt will feature this Sunday on Channel 9 from 7pm.
