A teacher accused of sexually touching a teenager in the Macarthur area has failed in a bid to protect his identity from being published.
Ulf Werner Astleitner-Kaiser, of Mittagong, was arrested by detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad at his Southern Highlands home last Friday.
The 64-year-old is facing two charges of sexually touching a 13-year-old girl between December 1 and 7 last year.
Astleitner-Kaiser has denied all charges, pleading not guilty to both offences in Moss Vale Local Court on Tuesday.
His lawyer, Ms Mitchell, made an application to stop the publication of Astleitner-Kaiser’s name, telling the court it could lead to identifying the teenage victim.
“(The publication of Astleitner-Kaiser’s name) may lead to her being identified,” she said.
Magistrate Ian Cheetham dismissed the non-publication application.
“I decline to make the non-publication order in the interest of justice,” he said.
The matter will return to Campbelltown Local Court on March 18.
