Pre-Fight, Minto’s UFC warrior Mark Hunt promised to bring the beer if his opponent, American Stipe Miocic, brought the sausages.
Here’s hoping someone brought some ice.
Hunt also promised a knockout, but unfortunately he was on the receiving end of a fifth-round TKO in the heavyweight bout at Adelaide Entertainment Centre.
Hunt was unable to deal with Miocic’s athleticism and fitness.
He showed he was a warrior though, taking a heavy beating for the last three rounds which caused his right eye to close.
Despite the beating, Hunt refused to give in and forced the referee to stop the fight midway through the fifth and final round. The punch count of 361 to 46 in Miocic’s favour was the most lopsided count in UFC bout history.
Hunt said pre-fight that he could handle his opponent standing up or on the ground but Miocic forced Hunt to the canvas at every opportunity.
Hunt was clearly uncomfortable there and that was where the American won the fight so comfortably.
Miocic said he intended to taste some of the region’s famous wines now the focus on the fight was over.
“He (Hunt) said he was going to knock me out, so I had to take him on at his own game,” he said.
“He’s so tough I had to stick to my game plan.”
