One of the fastest growing schools in southwest Sydney could be getting a much needed upgrade, with expansion plans lodged to the state government.

Zahra Grammar School in Minto was hailed as southwest Sydney’s fastest growing school in 2023, with enrolments increasing by 804 per cent in the five years from 2018 to 2022.

With that staggering increase, a development application has been lodged to the state government to build and operate a new school for 630 students.

A scoping report reveals the plan to demolish an existing residential house and build double storey buildings at 127 Eagle view Road, Minto.

Along with the classrooms, buildings for the library, administration, staffroom and a multipurpose hall have been proposed.

By 2022, their numbers shot up to 199 students.

On their website, the school prides itself on being a “family and community school that offers an alternative educational solution for the Muslim Community”.

“It has a dual role of providing the overall development of each individual student as well as to facilitate parents to be more effective educators to their children outside of school hours,” the website states.
