A 37-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the murder of Campbelltown father Jamie Phillips.
Nathan McIvor, of Blair Athol, was scheduled to appear before Campbelltown Local Court this morning but the case was adjourned until May 3.
McIvor did not apply for bail and he will remain in police custody.
He was arrested at a St Helen’s Park property yesterday morning after police executed a search warrant on the home.
Police allege McIvor stabbed Phillips at a Rosemeadow property before dumping his naked body in a vacant lot on Englorie Park Drive, Rosemeadow, during October last year.
A post mortem determined Mr Phillips died as a result of multiple injuries, including stab wounds.
A number of houses in the Rosemeadow and Ambarvale areas were examined as part of the investigation.
In January, CCTV vision of the last known sighting of Mr Phillips was released to the public before his body was found, where he was walking along Queen St, Campbelltown with his brother.
Mother Cheryl Phillips, speaking to media at Campbelltown police station in January, said she could not understand why her son was killed.
“He was a beautiful man. A loving son, brother and father to his girls,” Mrs Phillips said.
“I just don’t understand why anybody would leave him like that.”
Allen Phillips, the brother of the victim, said at the same press conference he was still in shock.
“I still can’t believe it’s happened to him,” Mr Phillips said.
