DESPITE recently suffering a 22-14 loss to Hills Sports High in the final of the Hong Kong NSW Schoolboys Sevens Championship, St Gregory’s College, Campbell-town guaranteed their place in the National Schoolboys Sevens under-18s championships later this month.
The tournament will be played at Skilled Park stadium on the Gold Coast on October 12 and 13, with the final being a curtain raiser to the IRB Rugby Sevens.
As state runners-up, St Gregory’s will join western Sydney neighbours Hills Sports High and Westfields Sports High in the tournament.
St Gregory’s will draw on their experience from last year’s national final, which they lost 24-19 to Keebra Park High School after staging an epic comeback from 19-0 down in front of 20,000 fans at Skilled Park.
St Gregory’s won the 2012 state tournament.
