A primary school teacher from Sydney’s southwest has been charged with allegedly filming and possessing child abuse material. Here’s the latest from court.

A primary school teacher from Sydney’s southwest has been removed from teaching duties after he was charged with allegedly filming and possessing child abuse material.

Police were called to Spring Farm Public School in Sydney’s southwest shortly before 1.30pm following reports of an incident.

Officers were told the teacher had used his phone to make recordings of students.

The teacher, identified as 30-year-old Guy Meogrossi, was arrested and taken to Narellan Police Station and charged with film person’s private parts without consent (aggravated), produce child abuse material, and film person’s private parts without consent.

Meogrossi did not appear via audio visual link at Campbelltown Local Court on Tuesday and his Legal Aid lawyer Patricia Haddad did not make an application for bail. No pleas were entered.

Court documents state Meogrossi recorded the genital area and filmed the private parts of two unidentified people on June 3 at Spring Farm.

Meogrossi also allegedly filmed the private parts of an unidentified adult at Spring Farm Public School without her consent.

The prosecution said a referral had been made for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to take carriage of the case.

Magistrate Christopher McRobert refused bail and adjourned the matter to June 11 at Campbelltown Local Court.

A NSW Education Department spokesman told The Daily Telegraph it was working with police, as the “employee has been removed from teaching duties”.

“The safety of students is always our number one priority,” he said. “Support and counselling services are available for students and staff members.”
