Wests Tigers have been good to their word of aiming to be more visible and more connected to Campbelltown.
The club trained twice in Campbelltown in the past week, on Tuesday and Thursday.
Tigers assistant coach Matt Cameron said the week had been really good.
“We’ve been out at Campbelltown all week, had a day off in the middle and had an open training session out there too, which was great for the boys after a tough week,” he said.
The Thursday session was an open training session for fans to watch their favourite players in action and a great opportunity to see how professional footballers train.
The stifling conditions meant the shade was the best option for fans and then players once their intense session was over.
The session was also an opportunity for fans to secure their seats for the new season or to buy the club’s jerseys and merchandise.
The training sessions at Campbelltown mark two weeks until the unofficial season launch at the Auckland Nines tournament.
Wests Tigers find themselves in a pool with the Warriors, Canberra Raiders and Gold Coast Titans.
The tournament marks a hectic pre-season for the club with Camden’s NSW Cup and under-20s trial a week later on Saturday, February 7 at Kirkham Park.
The Tigers will play against Parramatta at Alice on Friday, February 13.
All grades will play a trial against Cronulla at Campbelltown on February 21.
The season begins on Saturday, March 7 on the Gold Coast against the Titans.
