TWO Macarthur region athletes start their Commwealth Games campaigns this week with a busy couple of nights ahead in Scotland.

Currans Hill shooter Warren Potent was set to take on the best of the Commonwealth last night in the 50m prone rifle category.

Going into the games, the third-ranked shooter was confident about his chances.

“I’ve got very high goals and I’m expecting to do well,” he said.

Potent said the cool Glasgow conditions may play a part.

“You don’t want to be shooting a rifle when you’re shivering,” he said.

Potent said it was important to be comfortable temperature-wise.

Camden wrestler Jayden Lawrence will compete in the 74kg freestyle event full of confidence after a successful qualifying tournament in Canberra earlier this year.

Nineteen-year-old Lawrence will take to the mats tonight at 8.30 with the final on Wednesday at 1.37am.
