Macarthur gymnasts do region proud

Macarthur region gymnasts picked up an impressive haul of nominations for the 2014 Gymnastics NSW Awards next month, following a successful year on the competition floor.

Macarthur region gymnasts picked up an impressive haul of nominations for the 2014 Gymnastics NSW Awards next month, following a successful year on the competition floor.

Mt Annan’s Ella Stevenson is up for her first nomination. She is in the running for the women’s junior levels Athlete of the Year award following on from her gold-medal winning effort in the level seven vault competition at her first Australian championships.

New to the awards night spectacle will be Ingleburn RSL’s rising trampoline stars Courtney Holyday and Kate McDermott, who both finished the year as Australian champions in the under- 13 and -15 double mini trampoline events.

The girls will go head to head in competition for the Trampoline National Stream female Athlete of the Year award.

Meanwhile, Mt Annan rhythmic star Michaela Whitehouse has been nominated for the senior elite Athlete of the Year award, following a successful first year in the sport’s top level of competition.

The 2014 Gymnastics NSW Awards night will take place on Saturday, February 7 at Waterview in Bicentennial Park. For further information about the nominees, visit gymnsw.org.au.
