A FEMALE cricket academy has been launched by Campbelltown-Camden Ghosts District Cricket Club to foster the overflowing talent within the region.
Ghosts president Morris Iemma said the 10-week academy would nurture the passion and talent of young female cricketers.
“It is our pride and joy, investing in the great young talent that is in the Macarthur region,” he said.
“We see the academy as a really important measure, providing opportunities for the region’s young women to pursue their cricket dream.”
The Feel the Spirit academy will feature a series of specialist coaches, including current WBBL players.
Sydney Sixers representative and specialist coach Clara Iemma said she was pleased to be involved with the region’s first female academy.
“It’s a great opportunity to develop young girls’ skills and get them involved in cricket,” she said.
“The academy is one extra thing for how the Ghosts support female cricket.”
