Touted as the future “go-to destination” for south west Sydney, SOMA Lifestyle is one step closer to opening its doors.
Work has begun on the $86 million precinct, which will include a cinema complex, restaurants, playgrounds and retail stores and will neighbour the newly opened SOMA Wellness and future Camden Medical Campus private hospital.
Gregory Hills Corporate Park director Satwant Calais was pleased to welcome construction on the site and shared high hopes for the precinct.
“The design of SOMA Lifestyle will be totally different to anything else in the marketplace,” he said. “It will be a destination in its own right.
“We are going to make it a very family-friendly environment, with an amazing eat street and children’s playgrounds.
“We won’t be just serving Gregory Hills, we will be serving the whole of Camden and Campbelltown local government areas.”
Construction works on the 6ha site was approved on December 21 by a private certifier. Earthworks and the installation of services is taking place with Mr Calais hopeful construction would begin later this year.
The precinct was approved by the Sydney South West Planning Panel in 2017 and is expected to create about 700 jobs.
The sister $25 million SOMA Wellness medical precinct opened late last year, providing health services including dental, physiotherapy, psychology, an audio clinic and pharmacy.
