The spectacular paper daisy display at The Australian Botanic Gardens Mt Annan has been spoiled by selfish selfies, with rogue visitors crushing the life out of a small section of the floral display.
The Gardens posted images of the heartless damage on social media, threatening fines for those busted straying off the footpath and destroying the paper daisies.
Curator manager John Siemon said over a million seeds were planted this year in the Garden’s biggest ever display and he urged visitors to admire its beauty from the footpath.
“We know visitors love to take photos of the paper daisies and the display has sealed paths and signage to show where people can pose to get the best photos surrounded by paper daisies,” he said.
“We just ask that visitors stick to the footpaths when viewing the flowers and taking photos so that everyone can continue to enjoy the display.”
Those who stray from the path risk a $500 fine.
The Western Australian paper daisies have long been a popular tourist attraction with the pink, yellow, and white carpet of flowers to look gorgeous until the end of October.
