FAME and fortune is beckoning for members of the Camden community, with a ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity for 15 minutes of fame in one of Foxtel’s most popular drama series.

FAME and fortune is beckoning for members of the Camden community, with a ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity for 15 minutes of fame.

The much loved Australian period drama A Place to Call Home is seeking extras to star in the critically acclaimed series.

Extras are to flaunt a 1950s look, with no modern haircuts and tattoos allowed.

Former Camden mayor, current Camden councillor and starring A Place to Call Home extra in 2013, Eva Campbell encouraged everyone to get involved.

“It is one of the experiences of a lifetime,” she said. “It is certainly not something you expect to be involved in during you life.

“If you are the least bit interested in how television productions are made or even just having a good time, I would encourage you to get involved.

“It is a great learning experience and a lot of fun.”

The Macarthur region’s iconic landscapes feature as backdrops, including Camden, Brownlow Hill, Cobbitty and Wollondilly, with the television drama based at Kirkham’s Camelot.

Actor Jenni Baird, who formerly played villain Regina Standish on the hit series, previously told the Macarthur Chronicle it’s a privilege to work in the region.

“Sometimes when I’m filming a scene and I’m on horseback and riding along, I think I’m the luckiest person in the world to have this job,” she said.

“I am grateful we are able to film in the area and everyone is so accommodating to us.

“We always stay at Camden Valley Inn and they are wonderful and so willing to help us and make us feel welcome.”
