Two mates accused of a brazen break-in - allegedly entering a Sydney home through a kitchen window before taking off with three lounges - were stopped by police after a tip-off.

Ryan Lee Simmonds, 47, and Drew William Thomas Mc Donald, 32, both fronted Picton Local Court on Wednesday charged with aggravated break and enter, two counts of larceny, possessing a housebreaking implement and goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen.

Mc Donald, of St Helens Park, has also been charged with drug possession and stealing a trailer.

According to court documents, police allege the duo broke into a home at The Oaks about 2am on July 19 and stole a number of items, including three lounges, a radio and shower hardware before loading it into a trailer.

About 20 minutes later, police received reports of a suspicious vehicle and pulled over the ute on Burragorang Rd, with Mc Donald in the driver’s seat and Simmonds in the passenger seat.

Police allege McDonald initially said he was picking up a lounge for a friend, then said he would be taking it to Canberra and storing it. He then changed his reason for being in the area multiple times.

It is further alleged the trailer attached to the ute had also been stolen from Edmondson Park.

Lawyer Carolyn Shiels said representations had been made to prosecutors on behalf of both men. No pleas have been entered and the matter returns to court next month.
