Rosemeadow fatal crash: Appin Road closed after man dies in single-car collision

A major road in southwest Sydney has closed after a single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a man.

Emergency services raced to the scene at about 8pm on Wednesday night after reports of the crash on Appin Rd, Rosemeadow.

On arrival, officers attached to Campbelltown Police Area Command had found a car had crashed into a tree.

Police, with assistance from an off-duty nurse, commenced CPR on the driver – a 46-year-old man and the sole occupant of the car – until NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived; however he could not be revived.

Officers established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Traffic control services closed the road from Kellerman Drive to Armstrong Rd and it was expected to remain shut until at least 2am on Thursday morning.

Drivers trying to get through to Appin were directed to detour via the Hume Highway.
