Historic Raith House in Bradbury is set to be restored as part of a proposal to establish a residential precinct on the 22ha site.
A developer has lodged plans with Campbelltown Council to build four residential buildings containing 132 units on the Fern St property.
As part of the development, Raith House will be restored and repurposed for use as a medical centre, club house or other similar operation.
The 16-room Indian bungalow house was built in 1903 and later used by the Child Welfare Department to house children who were wards of the state.
Planning Hub director Jeremy Swan, whose company is preparing the development on behalf of the site owner, told the Macarthur Chronicle the Raith House would be restored as part of the development.
“We believe that the proposed development will ensure that Raith, a locally significant heritage item, will be restored and maintained in accordance with an approved conservation management plan, and hope the building will be enjoyed well into the future,” Mr Swan said.
“The developer has not yet started to advertise this property, but would like to hear from all interested parties.”
