A man has been charged after he allegedly impersonated a police officer in a now-deleted viral video on popular social media streaming platform TikTok.
Police were alerted to several videos posted to TikTok earlier this month involving a man wearing a police shirt, claiming he was a senior constable in the NSW Police Force.
The 28-year-old, who goes by the username @Primod—Official, allegedly posted the video informing his followers how to get out of speeding fines.
In the video, which has since been taken down, he allegedly shows his followers a picture of him in the police gear and claims it is his job.
After being alerted to the videos, the Camden Proactive Crime Team commenced an investigation and arrested the 28-year-old at Narellan Police Station on Monday.
He was charged with impersonating a police officer and not officer/special constable wear uniform.
The TikTok user’s profile boasts 25,000 followers claiming he is “Australia’s hottest bogan”.
Videos range from advice on how to lose weight to satirical clips informing his followers why people hate him.
The 28-year-old was granted conditional bail and will appear at Picton Local Court on June 22.
