IT was a case of when it rains it pours, in more ways than one for the Camden District Cricket Association last weekend.
After visiting the final five times in the past six years before 2012's maiden victory, Sydney's big wet meant a second straight under-13 Mollie Dive Shield title was wrapped up without a ball being bowled on Sunday.
For the team which featured three NSW PSSA players, the joint premiership was just reward for a dominant week's cricket.
Captain Yardley Polsen obliterated the batting records at the carnival, scoring 240 runs without loss, while Courtney Schonell and Jessica Langford who took a hat-trick on the third day topped the wicket count.
Perhaps more impressive, though, were the efforts of the less experienced girls.
"We had quite a young side," coach Peter Lonergan said.
"The most important thing the girls can take out of that, is, even if one or two players are getting the results, there has to someone there at the other end supporting those statistics."
The trophy wrapped up the CDCA's most successful week at the carnival, with the under-15 Margaret Peden Shield side finishing third.
For manager Deb Stewart, who completed her 10th year of girls' cricket and final season as manager, the back-to-back titles are a culmination of a decade's hard work.
"What these girls have achieved for this district in the past two years is unbelievable," Stewart said.
"It's at a point now where girl's cricket is thriving, support behind it is at an all-time high."
