POLICE are investigating a shooting of a horse in a Thirlmere paddock, after a bullet was discovered lodged in the horse’s shoulder over the weekend.

POLICE are investigating a shooting of a horse in a Thirlmere paddock, after a bullet was discovered lodged in the horse’s shoulder over the weekend.
The wound was first noticed in the shoulder of the eight-year-old filly by the owner on Saturday.
The owner’s husband, investigating the wound the next day, discovered and removed a 0.22 calibre projectile on the Sunday.
Residents near the Tickle Drive, Thirlmere property, where the horse is agisted, reported hearing gun shots on Thursday near the paddock but didn’t see anyone near the horse.
Police have said there have been no safety concerns for the horse owner or the property owner in the past.
Camden Police Area Command rural crime investigator is conducting additional inquiries into the incident.
