POLICE are investigating after eight cars were broken into across Camden Park on Monday night.

A number of minor items were stolen from the vehicles, including keys, coins and garage remote controls.

Camden PAC crime manager Detective Inspector Jayne Doherty urged people to lock their vehicles and ensure valuables were kept out of sight.

“It’s a reminder to not leave items in the car, such as handbags, phones, wallets or even house keys,” Inspector Doherty said.

“If you are a tradie, park your vehicle under CCTV cameras or lights if you are able to.

“We also encourage people to have car alarms. It may not stop an attempted car theft but it does deter them.”

Camden police also are investigating four separate incidents of cars being broken into around the Camden area last week, with a laptop, jewellery and numberplates stolen.

A car parked near a gym at Welling Drive, Mt Annan, was broken into between 8am and 9am on Friday and a laptop stolen.

Another incident occurred on Saturday, when a woman parked her car at Narellan Town Centre at 7.30pm while she had dinner. She returned to discover her numberplates had been stolen.

On Sunday night, a car parked in Camden St, Wilton was broken into and a silver bracelet and key were stolen.

Last Tuesday, two numberplates were stolen from a car parked at Leppington railway station.
