Police investigate alleged assault of taxi driver at Oran Park

A TAXI driver has been allegedly assaulted by a male passenger in Oran Park in the early hours of Saturday morning.
About 4.15am, a taxi driver picked up three males from Haymarket and drove them to Oran Park.
When the taxi was on Central Av, the group told the driver to stop the vehicle and then proceeded to walk away.
When the taxi driver opened his window and called out to the group, asking for the $183 fare, one of the males allegedly punched the driver through the open window.
The male had left his mobile phone on the front seat of the taxi, which the taxi driver handed to Narellan police station when reporting the incident.
Police are awaiting CCTV images from inside the taxi and will be making inquiries to identify the owner of the phone.
