THE 2013/14 W-League season kicks off this Saturday and rivalries will be high as the Western Sydney Wanderers have poached several Macarthur region players from defending premiers Sydney FC.

The Sky Blues beat Melbourne Victory in last season's grand final with the help of locals Sham Khamis, Elizabeth Ralston, Alanna Kennedy and Amy Harrison.

The Wanderers bolstered their squad with the addition of former Sky Blues Kennedy, Kyah Simon (injured), Michelle Carney (sister of Socceroo David) and former Matildas vice-captain Heather Garriock.

Macarthur Chronicle 2008 Junior Sports Star Samantha Spackman, of Harrington Park, remains with the Wanderers.

Sydney FC's squad includes Macarthur region stars Khamis and her sister, Leena, Elizabeth Ralston, Trudi Camilleri and last year's Junior Sports Star Amy Harrison, of Kearns.

ABC1 will broadcast the match of the week live each Sunday at 3pm. Fox Sports will also broadcast two games as part of W-League/A-League double headers.

The sixth W-League season will commence with the Wanderers facing Adelaide United this Sunday at 2pm and a grand final rematch between Sydney and Melbourne Victory at 3pm.

Two Wanderers matches will be held at Campbelltown Sports Stadium against Melbourne Victory on January 19 at 4pm and against Sydney FC on February 2 at 3pm.
