A terrifying truck fire saw five cars destroyed at a petrol station off the Hume Highway in Sydney’s southwest.
Twenty-six firefighters from NSW Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue NSW attended an Ampol petrol station in Pheasants Nest just after midnight on Wednesday where they found a parked trailer carrying five cars fully ablaze.
The driver was not in the truck and had disassembled the cab before fireys arrived to battle the flames.
They were able to contain the fire to the truck to avoid impact to the petrol station, and took two hours to extinguish the blaze.
Initial investigations into the incident have indicated that a blown out tyre from one of the cars on the trailer led to the fire, an RFS spokesman said.
No injuries have been reported.
Two separate incidents also took place earlier in the night, including a head-on collision between two cars near Campbelltown Hospital.
Emergency services were called to Oxley St and Narellan Rd in Campbelltown around 11.30pm, where a Nissan hatchback and Kia SUV had crashed. Police closed off a portion of Narellan Rd shortly afterwards as a result.
Paramedics assessed two patients on-site and transported a 21-year-old man that was driving the hatchback to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition. No injuries were reported for the SUV driver.
Around 9pm, police and paramedics received a call to a house at Sackville Rd and Barff St in Ingleburn with reports of a car crashing through a fence.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a man and a woman in their 60s at the scene.
Police said the 67-year-old man driving the car appeared to have suffered a medical episode in the lead up to the incident.
The man was transported to Campbelltown Hospital for further assessment.
