Camden is set to transform into a ‘Canine City’ on Sunday, May 6, with the popular Paws in the Park festival to bark into town.
The annual canine showpiece is the largest festival for dogs in the region, with more than 1000 pooches and their two-legged friends expected to attend.
Camden Mayor Lara Symkowiak said Paws in the Park was the perfect opportunity for the community to unite and celebrate their pet pooches.
“Dogs play an important part in supporting the physical and emotional health of our residents and this day out is a great way to treat them,” she said.
Dogs can take their owners for a 3km stroll around Camden Bicentennial Equestrian Park, before enjoying entertainment with a canine flavour, including a pet photo booth.
A number of quirky competitions will be available for all, with categories such as best trick, scruffiest dog, cutest face and tallest dog.
A range of pet health care products, community organisations and dog attractions will be featured including more than 40 stalls and displays.
Cr Symkowiak said the event was the perfect chance for people to connect and care for their pet, while enjoying a lovely day out.
“This is an opportunity for people to connect with pet health experts, dog clubs and organisations while enjoying a fun, social event for dogs and their families,” she said.
The annual event, running since 2011, will also include free vet health checks, discounted microchipping, dog registrations as well as a number of obedience and agility demonstrations.
The free event runs from 9am to 1pm.
