A Paterson St property in Campbelltown has achieved a record price for the area, selling for a whopping $955,000.
Initially attracting only one $820,000 bid at auction, the six bedroom mini-mansion nestled in the heart of Campbelltown’s older district managed to attract the booming sale price after a private bidding war.
The house last sold in August 2013 for $590,000.
Richardson and Wrench Ingleburn real estate agent Josh Mayo said the price was an anomaly for the area due to the size of the house and the buyer’s attraction to the property.
“The buyer had actually gone up and knocked on the door about a year and a half ago asking about the property,” he said.
“At first I didn’t remember him but he had approached me and was looking for some very specific details with what he wanted, he’d done his research on what he wanted.”
Mr Mayo said the price was a once-off for the suburb and no one had expected it to achieve the price paid.
“You won’t find a freestanding property for that price anywhere around here,” he said. “I think the sellers would have been happy with about $900,000.
“There were a lot of people who didn’t think it would sell for that much, even other real estate agents.
“It’s definitely not a development opportunity, this was a home, bought by someone looking for a home.”
