IF YOU’RE brave enough, try to tackle this Orangeville Meat Co burger which weighs as much as a small dog.

The 2kg monstrosity is loaded with 1kg of beef as well as loads of bacon, cheese, pickles, lettuce, onion rings and in-house secret sauce made on a giant in-house bun.

Dubbed the ‘OMG Burger’, the name is a play on the cafe/butcher’s original, much smaller, OMC Burger and is also based on the reaction of those who see it (Oh My God).

To celebrate its first birthday, the Gregory Hills store is launching the mutant burger at an eating challenge event on Saturday, May 14.

“We wanted to celebrate our birthday with a bang and with this whole burger craze going on we thought this would be a great and fun idea,” co-owner Mel Grimston said.

“We took our loved OMC Burger and made it bigger and better, adding onion rings and bacon.”

At the eating challenge, competitors will have to consume the burger as well as loaded chilli fries and a shake within 30 minutes.

Those who complete the challenge will receive the meal free and be given a shirt to brag.

Of all the finishers, the person who recorded the fastest time will also receive a $100 gift voucher for the Orangeville Meat Co butcher and deli section and have its next burger of the week named after them.

On the day, residents can also purchase the burger to eat leisurely without competing.

Mrs Grimston said she was considering having the OMG Burger placed on the menu as a permanent item following the event.

“We have been thinking about giving people the option to pre-order it later on,” she said.

“We’ll see what the feedback is like on the day and go from there.”
