A mother launched into a vitriolic tirade against a Sydney business employee, threatening to stab him before making vile comments that she hoped his wife cheated and his daughter was “f***ed by 10 million guys”.

Oran Park’s Brooke El-Ali, 28, was sentenced for the violent outburst at Picton Local Court on Wednesday after she pleaded guilty to common assault and stalk or intimidate intending to cause fear of physical harm.

On June 18, 2022, El-Ali went shopping at Rug World, Gregory Hills and was completing a purchase when she began moving rugs around to view other items.

The employee asked her to stop as he was concerned about liability issues if she was to get hurt, and a “heated argument” began before he asked El-Ali to leave.

She left but returned with a friend, and El-Ali began verbally abusing him as the victim used his phone to record the interaction.

“I’m about to f***ing lose it … I’m going to sue you for every motherf***ing thing. You know. Your kids, your wife,” El-Ali said.

The tirade continued as the victim, and El-Ali argued about the rug before El-Ali said, “can I punch you in the face and f*** your rug then”.

El-Ali used her right hand to smack the victim’s mobile phone over, and the rant did not stop there as she hurled heinous threats.

“I hope your wife cheats on you. I hope your daughter gets f***ed by 10 million guys,” El-Ali said.

“I’ll f***ing kill you c***. I’ll stab you right here right now.”

When El-Ali tried to leave the store with two rugs, the victim attempted to defuse the situation by offering a discount, but she replied, “you can suck me off, your discount”.

When he told her to leave, she walked around, pulled out rugs and dropped them to the floor. Soon, she and her friend left the store after a bystander contacted the police.

When El-Ali was interviewed by officers at a later date she said she did not remember what she said.

At court, her lawyer told the court the matter was initially set down for a hearing, but El-Ali had changed her plea.

“Unfortunately for her, the facts – no excuses are being made for her, Your Honour – are quite disturbing,” he said. “They are not a true reflection of her character … she has lost her way.”

The lawyer said she was a single mother struggling financially and emotionally, was on the right path, and had “deep remorse”.

Magistrate David Degnan said the outburst was “unnecessary”, and when El-Ali tried to speak up, he told her “don’t talk, just listen”.

“You and your friend could have de-escalated this on a number of occasions as the proprietor was trying to do himself,” he said. “You’re going off on some crazy spiel of threats to him over a rug or, more correctly, being told don’t move the rugs around.

“Yet you stood there making threats to him, his family, and his wife.”

Mr Degnan said he did not believe she did not remember what she did. He noted El-Ali had asked for a non-conviction but said this could not be “tolerated”.

El-Ali was convicted and sentenced to an 18-month community correction order and fined $1000.
