Oran Park has become one of Sydney’s fastest growing suburbs in the past decade, transforming from rolling paddocks and the ground of a beloved racetrack to the desired home of thousands of families.

The town is home to a shopping centre, library, multi-storey office buildings and apartment complexes, a water splash park, skate park, a number of sporting fields and parks and possibly a 184-room designer hotel.

Since 2019, developers have promised residents over the age of 18 their very own ‘super pub’ and now eager punters can see the reality of it finally beginning to take shape.

Workers are set to break ground on the Oran Park Hotel, located at the intersection of Dick Johnson Drive and Central Ave on November 9.

A sod turning ceremony will mark the beginning of construction on the $40 million three-storey project.

The venue is touted to be one of the greatest pubs in all of Sydney and could be in action by early 2023.

The entertainment facility will feature a rooftop cocktail lounge, a picturesque beer garden, first-class restaurant and bistro, as well as a woodfire pizzeria and cafe planned for the ground floor.

Memento Hospitality CEO Marcello Colosimo, who is behind the ‘super pub’, said Greenfields and the Perich family have been “fantastic” to work with.

Two cinemas, each with a 40-person capacity, are planned for the first floor of the entertainment complex alongside a number of function rooms.

“Camden Council has been very efficient and progressive,” he said.

“We are all working together with the goal of bringing a fantastic food and beverage experience to one of the fastest growing suburbs in NSW.

“It will provide a chance to create memories in all facets of life, whether it be birthday’s through to sporting events, or even just having a casual meal and drink.”

Construction is expected to take 18 months.

The construction comes after an 184-room designer hotel was proposed for Oran Park with plans underway for the Oran Park Podium precinct announced by Event Hospital and Entertainment Limited (EVENT) and Greenfields in September.

The Atura Hotel is set to be anchored at the $500 million Oran Park Podium site, within the lifestyle, retail and entertainment precinct.

If all goes to plan the hotel could be complete in late 2023 and will feature “generous conference and meeting facilities, an outdoor pool and terrace, and a locally-inspired restaurant and bar”, developers report.

Event director of development Peter Hill said the company was “thrilled” to be working with Greenfields on the project.

“With anticipated growth in the region with the development of Western Sydney Airport, there will be strong demand for this project and we look forward to Atura becoming an integral part of the local community,” he said.
