A TIMELINE for extra parking at Campbelltown Station remains unknown despite efforts by the Macarthur Chronicle last week to find out.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian promised an extra 450 parking spaces during the last state election campaign in 2015 when she was the transport minister.
A direct inquiry to Ms Berejiklian’s office last week asking if the premier would personally push for the project to be sped up was passed off to a Transport NSW spokesman.
The Macarthur Chronicle received the same response provided after previous inquiries to the transport authority.
“We know that the lack of commuter car parking is a concern for customers. Since March 2011, the NSW Government has delivered around 6000 extra car spaces for customers with more on the way,” the spokesman said in a statement.
“Planning is underway for more commuter car parking at Campbelltown Station and we are working closely with council to find a suitable location for the facility.”
Campbelltown Labor Mayor George Brticevic previously told the Macarthur Chronicle more parking was needed as soon as possible.
Cr Brticevic said additional parking spaces would be required after that with Gregory Hills Drive set to open and provide a more direct link to Campbelltown Station for Camden residents.
