THE first stage of Fraser Property’s Ed. Square development is set to get under way after getting the tick of approval from the Sydney Western City Planning Panel.
On Monday, the panel approved the construction of 104 homes described its developers as an ‘inner-city style’ precinct.
It will be built around Sydney’s newest train station — Edmondson Park station — and has proved popular among buyers with 182 homes already snapped up.
Of that number, 100 have been apartments and 82 have been town homes.
Coles signed on last month to anchor the development’s town centre precinct which will also include several eateries and a cinema on a mammoth 2400sq m site.
Fraser Property development director Warwick Dowler said the company was hoping to have the first stage of the town centre precinct approved shortly.
“We’re pleased to have got the DA through to begin the town houses and we’re hoping to have another DA through in the next month or so for the first retail and apartment buildings,” he said.
“We’re hoping to start construction on the town homes in October, we’re just about to appoint a builder.”
Mr Dowler said Ed. Square had attracted a range of different buyers.
“We’ve had a real cross section looking at what we’ve got to offer,” he said.
“I’d say about half have been investors and the other half have been owner-occupiers,” he said.
“Of those owner-occupiers, about half of those have been first-home buyers.”
