THE Ambarvale Hotel will soon have its own brewery offering a unique selection of beers as the local watering hole undergoes a massive refurbishment over the coming months.
The hotel has already begun the refurbishment with the alfresco public bar already completed.
Next year will also see the opening of the new bistro eating area and beer garden.
The brewery will have four tanks, which have already been delivered but are not yet operational, which will run full time.
Hotel general manager Damian Burcher said the brewery would offer a range of different beers, including craft beers, but would be taking its cues from the community.
“There’ll be an element of craft beer but we want to just do good accessible beer for our patrons,” he said.
“We’ll be listening to them and what they want to drink.”
As for whether you’ll be able to take a few bottles of your favourite home-brewed drop with you, Mr Burcher said he would ‘never say never’.
“It will only be on tap at first but I’d never say never to bottling it,” he said.
The bistro area will be extended to about 350 seats and will feature an open wood fire kitchen with as assortment of grilled and smoked meats, wood fired pizza and desserts.
Mr Burcher said the upgrade aimed to capitalise on a growing community in the region.
“The area is changing as more and more people move to the region,” he said.
“We want to refresh a great community pub.”
