MT ANNAN rhythmic gymnastics star Michaela Whitehouse will bring a formidable collection of gold medals to the 2013 Macarthur Chronicle Junior Sports Star competition.

Michaela, 15, won gold medals in last month's Gymnastics NSW championships in the all-round, clubs, hoop and ribbon categories. She also claimed a silver in the ball category.

"Winning the state championships was a big goal for me and it felt like all my hard work had paid off," Michaela said.

"It also gave me a huge confidence boost heading into the nationals in July."

Michaela, of Mt Annan, took her form to Romania early this month when she competed in the prestigious Spring Cup and won bronze medals in the ball, club and ribbon events.

She achieved an incredible ninth place overall, competing against gymnasts from Romania, Cyprus, Israel, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Brazil, Denmark and Serbia.

"It was an amazing experience just to see and compete with girls from around the world," she said.

"I was stoked with my ninth place and I learned so much from the internationals - the way they executed their routines was unlike any Australian gymnasts and I definitely took that away."

Michaela's stellar year began with gold medals in the team and individual all-round events of the Australian Youth Olympic Festival, before she was named the Gymnastics NSW Junior International Athlete of the Year for 2012.
