Menangle Park: revised plans include 5200 homes, new town centre in southwest Sydney

Campbelltown Council have called on the NSW Government to approve revised plans for Menangle Park, which would see a massive increase in the number of homes and businesses created in the town centre.

Dahua Group’s new masterplan for the southwest Sydney boom-town includes approximately 5250 dwellings — an increase of 1850 homes — within the 500ha site recently supported by Campbelltown Council for Gateway Determination.

The massive project also plans for the relocation and expansion of the town centre to feature a 30,000sq m retail and employment zone alongside a new neighbourhood centre, school and massive open space precinct.

Thousands of homes are planned for the new town

A Dahua Group planner said the vision for Menangle Park has evolved over the past 10 years since the masterplanned was approved.

“Today’s masterplan must respond to the existing and projected growth within Sydney’s south west,” the representative said. “Over the past decade there have been significant changes to demographics, affordability, housing need and lifestyles.

“Menangle Park provides the opportunity to meet needs and fill a market gap.”

A Main Street plan will see a massive 30,000sq m retail precinct.

Blueprints for the town include a range of detached houses and apartment buildings connected by a series of walking and cycling tracks, parks and playing fields.

Plans also include a green spine through the centre of town and connections to the Australian Botanical Gardens and Nepean River.

“Menangle Park will create a new unique destination for South West Sydney,” the planner said. “It will off er a range of retail and commercial uses, recreational offerings, and provide employment opportunities.

“Club Menangle, an extensive Harness racing and function facility, will be the catalyst to deliver greater entertainment and tourism attractions.”

NSW Planning will determine the fate of the massive proposal.
