Melbourne Storm Hold Cup player Dean Britt, from Camden, part of NSW Blues Under-20s Origin win
Camden Rams junior rugby league player Dean Britt helps NSW to 30-8 Under-20s State of Origin victory.
Former Camden Rams rugby league player Dean Britt has done what senior NSW players haven’t been able to do, which is to beat Queensland.
The NSW under-20s team won the Darren Lockyer Trophy for the third season in-a-row after the 30-8 win.
Britt, of Camden, made his second appearance for the side after making it last year as well.
Britt is the son of former Kangaroos prop and Bulldogs captain Darren Britt.
The second-rower, who is playing for the Melbourne Storm in the Holden Cup, said the game was a step up from club games.
“It’s definitely a level up; it’s faster and more physical,” he said. “They’re all quality players.”
Britt wasn’t expecting the call-up despite being selected for the team last year. “I wasn’t expecting it, I’ve had a few injuries, so I was pretty surprised,” he said.
Britt was pleased to team up with his club coach, former Kangaroo Dean Pay.
“Deano’s pretty passionate; he hates Queensland,” he said. “I just want to stay fit and hopefully make the NSW Cup team.”
