An alleged eyewitness of the brutal death of 18-year-old Alex Ioane at an out-of-control house party in Sydney’s southwest has been charged with covering up the violence.

Police will allege Marlee Lusio, 19, watched on as a pack of males bashed Ioane outside a Chester Rd home in Ingleburn last May, and never told police what she witnessed. Police will also allege a picture was taken at the scene depicting Lusio immediately next to Ioane, who was laying facedown on the road.

Ioane had attended the Friday night party on May 24 last year, advertised on Facebook as a ‘70th birthday’, with his girlfriend Lynn Lavea. Police allege witnesses saw Tafuna Taumalolo kick Ioane from behind, striking just under the back of the head, which saw the victim fall to the ground.

Ioane was found by emergency services on the road with serious injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Lusio, of Caringbah South, was arrested at the Ingleburn home of her boyfriend on Tuesday and did not apply for bail in Campbelltown Local Court on Wednesday.

She is the 6th person charged in relation to the alleged murder. Tafuna Taumalolo and two male minors have been charged with murder, Lute Taumalolo has been charged with accessory after the fact to murder and a 15-year-old girl has been charged with concealing a serious offence. All are now before the courts.

Lusio is the girlfriend of Mateaki Taumalolo, the cousin of Tafuna and Lute. Mateaki has not been charged in relation to the incident and there is no suggestion he was involved.

Police expect to make further arrests as part of the investigation.

Lusio’s matter will return to court to April 15.
