It may be early days in the life of Macarthur FC, the region’s new A-league team, but already the club is gathering a strong following in the community.

Fans have already begun creating chants, jersey designs, flags and banners for the new club as excitement builds for the club which will enter the national competition from the 2020-2021 season.

A social media following has already started gathering momentum with more than 500 new fans signing up to the Macarthur FC Bulls Supporter Group.

While not officially aligned with the club, the creators hope the group will create a space for fans to discuss the club and ideas behind active support. A poll on the group has overwhelmingly picked The Bullpen as the preferred name for an active supporters group. “I think what matters most is that the club and us as fans make it a family-friendly atmosphere,” Campbelltown fan Kane Oostendorp said. “That’s really crucial because the club can’t succeed without getting all the young families on board.” Fans of the club are coming from a variety of football backgrounds.

“We did a poll on our Facebook group and it was about 30-35 per cent were people who’ve never supported an A-League club,” group admin Jace Kelly said.

Fellow fan Blake Kelly said he’d never supported a club but had always thought if a team was started in the area he would back them.
