MENANGLE’s Orana Jersey Stud, after 53 years of operation, has revealed in an emotional Facebook post they will fall victim to the M9 Outer Sydney Orbital draft corridor.
Owner John Quin, who posted in the Outer Sydney Orbital Macarthur Action Facebook group, said the proposed motorway will have disastrous impacts on the stud, obliterating jobs alongside dairy and cattle sheds in Menangle and Mt Hunter.
“The road/freight line will see the end of Orana Jersey Stud,” he posted on Facebook.
“It is incredible how the planners managed to destroy so many productive farms and businesses while avoiding large vacant properties such as Cawdor and south Menangle.
“It is also hard to justify to be able to spend so much money on a road and rail network for which there is no established or tested need but have no plans for public transport to areas such as Oran Park, Narellan, south Campbelltown and Appin.

“It is a pity the government couldn’t spend more effort meeting the immediate needs of the people of NSW.
“Their own property at Elizabeth Macarthur (Agricultural Institute) and the (Sydney) University farms stands vacant and unused with millions of dollars of public money idle yet they are prepared to destroy good farms.”
The Facebook post, shared more than 15 times, has attracted widespread support from the community.
