CAMPBELLTOWN-based boxer Luke Turner may be fighting NRL superstar Blake Ferguson at Allphones Arena tomorrow night, but he wasn't starstruck until he met "Sugar" Shane Mosley in person last week.

Turner, 22, will fight Ferguson on the undercard of Anthony Mundine's drawn-out WBA international super welterweight bout with Mosley, who left Australia last month after failing to receive payment.

The former Wests Tigers under-20s player, of Goulburn, said he was "much more grateful" this time.

"It was so rushed last time - I was going to fight Ferguson 10 days after my first-ever amateur fight and when Shane left I was devastated," Turner said.

"But now it's back on, I'm really grateful for the opportunity and I am going to give the fight everything I've got."

Meeting Mosley, a previous winner of IBF, WBC and WBA titles in different weight divisions, at a media day last week was when Turner realised the magnitude of the fight.

"It was quite special meeting the champion (Mosley) himself, he seemed like a truly nice guy," he said.

"Everyone was so in awe of him that I realised what I'm fighting underneath."

Turner said an extra month of training at Southern Cross Gym at Campbelltown was good preparation.

"I've been working pretty hard and I feel more sharp and more relaxed this time.

"I'm pretty excited to fight in front of thousands of people at Olympic Park and to know it's being televised on Main Event. It's once-in-a-lifetime stuff."
